After many years in the business, I can say without a doubt, the only advantage of a 4-blade prop less vibration. It is not fired "hole" or "lift" for, against three in the correct size blade. Try a 5-sheet for easy editing.
They are usually 4 blade more lift (ideal for plans holes) and more control. They are usually used in the Beaver-style boats, or people are moving tubes, skiing, etc. If is a 3 blade better for speed.
However, much depends on the HP, cargo style, the angle of the stern, Jack Plate, etc.
I have a 3 blade on the ship 20 meters from my bass.
