It is a very interesting question. It is difficult to provide accurate information, but the best thing I could find was in fact a Wikipedia article, which suggests that the herpes virus, especially in relation to HSV-2 may be more available to be " but latent, African-Americans, while it be more active when present in the Caucasian population, so that the same could be applied to HSV-1.

Many of us have a cold sore virus dormant in our bodies, and an outbreak of cold sores. We recruited children because it is a very common virus, and that the children learn, simply because she often shares food and beverages and can be less concerned about hand washing and hygiene. Cold sores can be transmitted even if the person has a cold sore, but less likely than would happen next.

Here is a link to the Wikipedia, which many interesting information.

Good question. I wondered myself. I think it has nothing to do with race. However, I do not know many blacks, in comparison to my white friends.
